What makes gold distinctive
Gold is durable, can be worked into different forms and requires effort to extract. Bars and coins make the metal tradable in standardised forms. Its historical use in jewellery and money helps explain why gold still attracts attention today. The World Gold Council describes these properties and the history of the metal in its overview.

A store of value is not a price guarantee
Gold itself pays neither interest nor dividends. Its market price can rise or fall. The World Gold Council explicitly identifies the absence of ongoing income and price fluctuations as limitations of investing in gold. Preserving purchasing power over a particular holding period is therefore not assured.

A simple thought experiment
Imagine two identical bars: one is in your own safe, the other with a service provider. The metal is the same, but access, costs and documentation differ. A statement about gold alone therefore does not tell you how well a particular custody arrangement suits someone.
A short comparison can help: who holds the gold? How is it allocated? What costs arise at purchase, during custody and at sale? What evidence do you receive? These questions reveal differences between offerings without requiring a prediction of future prices.
What this means for OrumGold
OUGT is planned as a digital unit linked to physically held gold. The project is in development. This website currently reports no confirmed reserves. The planned allocation to one fine troy ounce is neither present evidence of reserves nor a guarantee of a market price.
Anyone assessing the concept can find the current status in the transparency section. There, we distinguish the intended model from evidence already available.
